Mushrooms collected and preserved 1984, presented in Gallery RFD, Georgia/USA 2008. |
As objet trouvé-installation, Chernobyl exhibits a jar of pre-Chernobyl mushrooms that my German neighbour had picked and preserved in 1984. Since the accident in the nuclear power station mushrooms have been radioactive poisoned in Germany. And my neighbour stopped picking them since. The Jar is dusty from the years in the basement. The mushrooms start to fall apart.
On the sound level a child's voice recounts about 1986:
“The rain is radioactive. The salad is radioactive. The flowers are radioactive. My cat is radioacive. ...”
